Laurie Scott is still pushing her bill Saving the Girl Next Door

A bill proposed by our local MPP is being re-introduced.

MPP of Haliburton, Kawartha Lakes, and Brock Laurie Scott says her bill Saving the Girl Next Door died after the Wynne government’s prorogation two days before the Legislature returned for the fall session.

Scott says the government is not serious about ending human trafficking because it continues to drive the agenda for its own gain.

Her bill would make it possible for a protection order, and would force the perpetrator to stay away from the victim.

It would also expand the definition of sex offence, and provide more public understanding and education about human trafficking and its consequences.
