The Haliburton Highlands OPP says if your cottage isn’t closed properly, it’s more vulnerable to thieves. They are urging you to secure your windows and doors, close curtains and blinds, and record the serial numbers of anything valuable left behind. Officials say to hide the keys for snow machines, boats, and ATVs. They say summer homes are most vulnerable to break and enters, damage and vandalism during the off-season.
