Officials say this long weekend is a time when we load up on comfort foods, but the sugars and starches create havoc in your mouth. They say the acidic content lingers in your teeth for 20 minutes after you’re done eating which can wear down tooth enamel and cause cavities. Officials say to rinse your mouth with water after eating, and add crunchy vegetables and fruits to your meal. They also suggest drinking milk to restore lost minerals on your teeth.
