Our local health unit wants you to teach your children to wash their hands at an early age.

This week is infection control week, and it’s being celebrated by a colouring contest.

The Haliburton-Kawartha-Pine Ridge District Health Unit will be giving colouring sheets to local daycares.

It delivers the message of the importance of washing your hands.

Public Health Nurse Cassandra Johnston says washing your hands correctly is one of the most effective things you can do to protect yourself against many diseases.

This is the second annual Health Is in Your Hands colouring contest.

Last year, over 100 sheets were completed and returned.
