Dysart council rejects Armatec proposal

Dysart council has rejected the application for a Military Testing Facility by Armatec Survivability.

Over twenty people crammed into council chambers yesterday to hear what council had to say about the company’s proposal.

Reeve Murray Fearrey left the room for the discussion due to a conflict of interest.

Heather Sadler from EcoVue Consulting Services spoke on behalf of Armatec, requesting council defer their decision until the company could present factual information supporting the project.

Sadler said she believed council was making the decision based on public opinion and not on the facts.

After 204 people have submitted written responses, 9 in favour of the project, council unanimously voted to reject the application.

Moving forward, Armatec has the option to appeal council’s decision at the Municipal Board of Ontario.
