Algonquin Highlands Submits FIT 5.0 Application

Stanhope Airport could be getting a solar mount on its roof.

Ontario’s FIT 5.0 application is now open to encourage and promote greater use of renewable energy resources for electricity generating projects in the province.

Algonquin Highlands CAO and Clerk Angie Bird says this is a great opportunity.

Bird says the township would receive $75,000 back a year if the project proceeds.

She says it will cost $830,000 but this could be paid off in three years from reserves, and revenue from FIT.

The municipality is also going to submit an application for a solar roof-mount on the new public works garage in Dorset.

Bird says both projects shouldn’t have an impact on the tax levy.
