Residents in Haliburton County are being encouraged to make a potentially life-saving decision by getting screened for breast, cervical and colon cancers.
The Haliburton-Kawartha-Pine Ridge District Health Unit is urging people to be screened for these three most common cancers, so it can be detected early.
Officials say spending a few minutes to be screened can be a valuable investment of time and energy.
They say this can improve the survival rates immensely, because early stages of cancer can be difficult to see, or feel.
