Our local MPP is asking people in her riding to sign a petition to keep natural gas.
Haliburton-Kawartha Lakes-Brock MPP Laurie Scott says the government wants to force all Ontarians using natural gas energy to switch to more expensive electricity.
Scott says the plan to ban this kind of gas will threaten jobs, and the financial well-being of residents.
She says 76 per cent of homes and businesses in Ontario that heat with natural gas will see an increase of $3000 per year if they switch to electricity.
Scott is asking residents in her riding to sign a petition asking the government to scrap this plan.
