Remembrance Day Ceremonies in Haliburton County

Our local MP is encouraging people in his riding to commemorate Veterans’ Week and Remembrance Day.

Haliburton-Kawartha Lakes-Brock MP Jamie Schmale says it’s important to take the time to learn more about the courage, service, and sacrifice of Canada’s Veterans.

Schmale says 2016 is an important year in Canadian military history. It’s the 100th anniversary of the battle of the Somme, and the battle of Beaumont-Harnel. He says many Canadians lost their lives in these battles.

Each year at the 11th hour, of the 11th day, of the 11th month, residents go to ceremonies to honour the men and women who have served in Armed Forces. Schmale says Canadians will pause to remember those who paid the ultimate price to protect freedom and democracy.

Ceremonies across and near Haliburton County on November 11th:

Haliburton: 11:00am at the Haliburton cenotaph.

Minden: 10:45am at the Minden cenotaph.

Kinmount: 11:00am at the Kinmount cenotaph.

Cardiff: 11:00am at the Cardiff cenotaph.
