Yearly Data Released for Highlands East Visitor Centre

Over 1,000 people have been to the visitor centre in Highlands East this year.

The centre was opened from May to October, and the visitor stats have been released. Economic Development and Business Coordinator Curtis Tighe says most of the visitors were tourists, but over 100 were permanent residents.

Tighe says 300 of the visitors came to the centre for mineral collecting. The next most popular activity was for general information. He says the majority of visitors were between the ages of 40 and 59.

Visitors ranged from across Ontario, and all across Canada. Tighe says people from the US came by this season too.
