Contractor from Haliburton County Facing a Hefty Fine

A local contractor from Haliburton County is being fined because sediment from roadwork ended up in Miskwabi Lake.

The Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry says the man was repairing a driveway leading to a cottage, but didn’t take the right control measurements.

The MNRF says he is facing a $2,500 fine. He has pleaded guilty.

Officials say if any sediment is left on sites, it’s the landowners and contractors responsibility to deal with the consequences.
