Update: Haliburton Junction Skate Park Project

The construction of the Haliburton Junction Skate Park will begin this spring.

During a Dysart et al council meeting yesterday, the Rotary Club of Haliburton said they will match up to $25,000 in funds raised by the municipality. Owner of the Home Hardware in Haliburton Jerry Walker also announced he would donate $5,000 towards the project.

Council says they don’t know what financial contribution the municipality can make yet because they have not entered budget discussions.

Recreation Program Coordinator Andrea Mueller says the skate park committee will be turning to businesses to ask for support towards the project. Mueller says a proposal is currently in the works.  The committee would like to include potential skate park designs with the proposals.

She says more fundraising events are in the works.  On February 24, the skate park committee will host a Battle of the Bands at the A.J. LaRue Arena.  Tickets will go on sale this December 14.
