It’s Bullying Awareness and Prevention Week in Haliburton County.
The Haliburton Highlands OPP says this is an opportunity to remind youth and parents the dangers of bullying and to learn more about its effect on students learning and their well-being.
The OPP is encouraging parents to talk to their kids and remind them it’s not acceptable for them to bully, be bullied, or stand by and watch others being bullied.
It can cause serious harm such as headaches, depression, anxiety, and increase the risk of suicide.
If you are being bullied, or know someone that is, remember you’re never alone. There are many resources and support systems available. Some resources include Kids Help Phone, Canadian Centre for Child Protection and the Government of Ontario website.
