OPP warning about melting ice on water

The OPP Central Region has issued a warning urging people to take caution near bodies of water that have ice on them.

With mild temperatures and rain in the forecast, conditions are changing hourly and ice that appears frozen may not be.

Chief Superintendent of the Regional Commander, John Tod says parents should remind their children about the dangers of melting ice. “Not only does the ice become unsafe, but banks along all bodies of water, whether big or small, can become weakened and can pose a threat to people of all ages and pets too,” says Tod.
