Police Have Tools to Detect Drug-Impaired Drivers

Our local OPP wants to remind you they now have the tools to see if you’re driving while high.

The Haliburton Highlands OPP is trying to reduce impaired driving. Constable Tim Negus says a drug-impaired charge involves prescriptions, over-the-counter, and illegal.

Negus says people think driving high is a lot safer than drunk driving but it’s not. He says drivers who get drug-impaired charges have the same penalties as those who are charged with alcohol-impaired driving.
