The Municipality of Haliburton County Puts Money Towards Digital Radios

The Municipality of Haliburton County will be spending over $100,000 to get digital radios for the Roads Department.

Director of Public Works Craig Douglas says digital information provides confirmation of actual events, and provides fact-based evidence for legal claims. Douglas says it also secures channels with less dead zones and better clarity.

He says to communicate to other municipalities they would just have to change the channels on the radio.

Dysart et al Reeve Murray Fearrey didn’t want council to go ahead with this. Fearrey says the county is making a big purchase without testing the equipment first.

The money for the project will come from the 2016 capital budget, and from the equipment reserve.
