Don’t Assume Cars Can See You While Walking at Night

If you like to go for walks at night, you need to listen to this.

The Haliburton Highlands OPP says 30 pedestrians have lost their lives so far this year. This is almost 70 per cent higher than last year.

Police say if you’re walking you need to remember the days are shorter now. They say to wear reflective or light coloured clothing, and stay on sidewalks.

Drivers are being reminded weather and road conditions can change in an instant. Police say when you’re driving stay alert, focus on the road, and look for people walking. They say to always be prepared to stop.

The OPP says it’s everyone’s responsibility to keep the roads safe.
