Minden Hills Plans to Attract More Volunteers

Minden Hills wants to attract more volunteers because numbers have been low.

Director of Community Services Mark Coleman says 50 per cent of volunteers are over 65 years of age, and are looking to downsize their volunteer activities. Coleman says he is happy they know this now before they reach a crisis point.

Reeve Brent Devolin says the township relies on volunteers, and they are a huge part of the community.

An online survey was done to gather information and ideas to figure out how to engage volunteers. Over 60 people responded, and shared what the township could do to improve relationships.

Coleman says volunteers want to be treated as a valuable asset, and treated properly.

He will be bringing council a final report on recommendations this January.
