Our Local Health Unit Encourages You To Eat With Your Family

Our local health unit wants to see more families eating meals together.

According to the Food Marketing Institute, just 40 percent of families eat dinner together, and no more than two or three times a week.

Haliburton-Kawartha-Pine Ridge District Health Unit Dietitian Laura Abbasi says eating together encourages healthy eating.

Abbasi says studies show children who eat with their families have better manners, and a better sense of structure and belonging. She says there are benefits for everyone sitting around the table.
