Dysart and Highlands East fire departments extending services

Dysart and Highlands East fire chiefs have agreed to extend their services for mutual aid.

Highlands East Fire Chief Bill Wingrove says they are experiencing smaller firefighter turn outs to calls. He says this is because there aren’t jobs here so  lot of people are travelling for work and can’t make it back to respond.

Wingrove and Dysart Fire Chief Miles Maughan have agreed to extend their services as far as Alsop Road in Highlands East for fires and motor vehicle collisions.

They will be treating it as mutual aid so there no fiscal responsibility is required.

Wingrove says he could be losing up to 11 volunteers.
