Snowmobiling across ice still isn’t safe in Haliburton, despite all of the recent snow. That warning comes from the Haliburton Highlands OPP, who says if you’re unsure you can call the MNRF to check the ice thickness in your area. However, as of right now, the waterway trails aren’t open because the ice isn’t frozen enough. The police will be out this weekend making sure snowmobilers are being safe and obeying speed limits. Officials say it’s 50 clicks an hour on the OFSC trails, and 20 kilometres on county and municipal streets.
