Snowmobiling is fun, but you have to remember the safety hazards that come along with it.
The Haliburton Highlands OPP says frozen waterways are never safe. You could get hypothermia, or drown from riding into open water or falling through the ice. Police say another thing you need to remember is people can’t always see you if you aren’t wearing bright colours.
They say to always be prepared for the worst case scenario. You can do that by carrying a tool kit, spare parts, a flashlight, a first-aid kit, and survival items.
Snowmobile Safety Week kicks off this weekend in Ontario.
