The Kawartha Sexual Assault Centre is getting some cash to help more women in the community. Canada’s Public Health Agency is putting almost 500-thousand dollars into the centre over four years, to develop a new program program called Building Internal Resilience through Horses. It’s a joint project with the Haliburton-Kawartha Children’s Aid Society. The program uses equine therapy to improve mental health, while teaching coping mechanisms.
