There Won’t Be Any Dogs In The Stanhope Firefighters’ Community Hall

The Stanhope Firefighters’ Community Hall won’t be opening its doors to dogs anytime soon.

This message comes from Algonquin Highlands Council after being asked if dog obedience classes could happen there. Reeve Carol Moffatt says the wood flooring could get ruined. Moffatt is also worried about cleanliness, but the health unit says there wouldn’t be any issues as long as the dogs stayed out of the kitchen.

Council discussed other opportunities including using the outside courts when the weather is nicer. Another idea was to use the basement once the renovations are done, but there isn’t a timeline when the work would be completed. For now, council says the Dorset Recreation Centre is the best option to have these classes, but there could be some opportunities down the line.
