Minden Hills is changing the prices for its landfills. Right now, it costs trucks and compactor bins 50-dollars per cubic yard for contaminated garbage, and 25 bucks for clean loads. Contamination means six per cent or more recyclables are in the garbage. Council has agreed to now charge $35 for every load, because staff has different opinions on which loads are contaminated, and which ones aren’t. Reeve Brent Devolin says this is a reasonable fix, as long as it doesn’t lead to an increase in contaminated loads.
