Haliburton is rallying around three local kids with a developmental disability called Angelman Syndrome. The genetic disorder causes intellectual delay, seizures, and jerky movements, and effects one in every 15,000 people. To help raise money for AS research, Haliburton is hosting an event called Catch the Cure. In the last three years, the event has raised $44,000. Organizer Sue Tiffin says it’s the only event of its kind in the world.
Tiffin says it’s exciting residents know about Angelman Syndrome, because most towns can’t say that. You can join the fun at the SG Nesbitt Memorial Arena for a full day of events on February 18th.
