Haliburton OPP seek public help in identifying suspect

Haliburton Highalnds OPP have issued a warning to Haliburton residents. A young female was walking the village of Haliburton between 1 and 2 on Friday Apr. 11 and was approached by a man who asked if she wanted to go for a ride in his vehicle. She did not go with him and immediately left the area.

Officers are asking for the public’s help in identifying the suspect. He is described as a white male, late 40s early 50s, medium build and approximately 5 foot 10.

  • Short brushed back hair and is unshaven.
  • He was wearing blue jeans, construction boots and a red plaid flannel jacket.
  • Suspect’s vehicle is described as an older style dark blue passenger minivan with tinted windows and rust on the front bumper.

The OPP is asking Haliburton County parents/guardians to remind their children to not accept any invitations from strangers and report any such incidents immediately.  If you have any information regarding this incident, please contact Constable Pinatsis at the Haliburton Highlands Detachment at 705 286-1431.

The OPP reminds all members of the public to be aware of their personal safety, and that of children, at all times. Children should not be left unattended anywhere, for any length of time, when out in the public.
