Ontario looking at changing the laws to buy and sell tickets online

The province is looking for input on laws around buying and selling tickets online.

The province says it is reviewing the laws around these sales to give fans a shot to see local shows, as tickets can often sell-out within hours, and sometimes over face value.

Prince Edward Hastings MPP Todd Smith says this means the government has chosen to just keep talking about the issue, and explains some of the steps needed to deter online scalpers. He says that includes extending the ban on “bots”, which are computers that buy up huge blocks of tickets.

Smith says pre-sales should be purchased with a credit card, with tickets picked up at a will-call window, which is a way to police scalpers.
