Fentanyl making its way into Hastings

Hastings and Prince Edward Public Health says Fentanyl has made its way to the region.

The health unit says Fentanyl is 100 times more powerful than morphine, can be laced with other drugs, and one salt-sized grain can lead to a fatal overdose.

You are being encouraged to recognize the signs of an overdose like:

– Someone won’t wake up.

– They are breathing very slowly.

– Their fingernails or lips are turning blue.

– Their body is limp.

– Deep snoring or gurgling.

– Vomiting.

The health unit says, if someone is overdosing, call 911, administer Naloxone, wait with the person until paramedics arrive.
