Minden Hills looking at using money from reserves for a Canada 150 celebration

The Township of Minden Hills is looking to move forward with a special Canada 150 celebration this summer despite a lack of government funding. Township staff had applied for $5,000 through the Ontario 150 grant program for enhanced Canada Day celebrations, but the application was turned down by the province.

The township is determined to provide a special 150 celebration and is now considering using funds from a reserve that was being used to save money for winter fest activities. The use of these funds would drain that account according to staff.

Council will be reviewing this request during the next meeting on March 30th.
