Don’t get caught up in a bad romance. This is the message from the OPP in Haliburton over a recent online romance scam that has been targeting residents.
Police say the victim will meet the scammer through an online dating site and be sucked into a romantic relationship without ever meeting this person. The victim will then be scammed out of possibly thousands of dollars before the relationship ends. Officers say seniors are targeted the most in this scam, but anyone who is single and using dating sites or social media can be a victim as well.
