Police in Haliburton want you to be on guard against telephone scammers. Haliburton Highlands OPP says you may get a call from a scammer claiming to be from a company like Microsoft that says your computer has been infected by a virus or been hacked.
The caller will ask to have permission to remote access your computer and could ask for a credit card to pay for their services. Police say you should never let anyone you haven’t called yourself remote access your computer and never out financial information over the phone.
