A project to create affordable housing in Haliburton is growing. Places-for-People is finishing up work on their sixth home, which is a single family home in Minden. There’s already a duplex in Dysart, a duplex in Algonquin Highlands, and two single family homes in Minden. Some of the homes have rent supplements and all have monthly coaching and a trust fund development
The non-profit says the number of calls they got asking if about this latest home shows there is a real need for affordable rentals in the county. There is going to be an open house next Wednesday for the community to see the home before the new tenants move in, and potentially get involved to help support the cause.
It’s happening at 3 McPherson, on April 12th from 12:00pm to 3:00pm.
