Sandbags are being made available for Minden Hills residents who need to protect their property from potential flooding. There are two different spots you can pick up a sandbag, at the roads department and at Furnace Falls Park. Bring a shovel, as it’s all self-serve.

Details are below:

  • Roads Department (in the Sand Dome – to the left of the entrance), located at 4564 County Road 121 (Kinmount location)
  • Furnace Falls Park – Front Turnaround – County Road 503

This comes as the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry has a flood warning for the Burnt River Watershed, and a flood watch for the York and Black River Watersheds.

Go to the Minden Hills website for details on how to properly fill up a sandbag.
