Health unit sending out hundreds of suspension notices this week over out-of-date vaccination records

Some Haliburton students are facing suspension this week over vaccinations. The Haliburton-Kawartha-Pine Ridge District Health Unit is sending out around 750 suspension orders this week, because vaccination records are out-of-date. They’re going out to students in Haliburton, Northumberland County and the City of Kawartha Lake.

The Health Unit has to make sure all students are vaccinated against tetanus, polio, measles and other diseases under the Immunization of School Pupils Act. The health unit says suspension is a last resort, but it’s required by law to make sure students have all of the proper shots.
