Make sure your home is protected in case flooding risks increase in Haliburton

Make sure your home is protected as flooding could hit Haliburton. There are a couple of spots nearby to get sandbags if water levels are rising around your home. The roads department in Minden Hills and Furnace Falls Park both have bags ready to be filled-up. Bring a shovel, because it’s all self-serve.

The Ministry of Natural Resources has a flood warning in effect for the York River Watershed.  There is also a flood watch in effect for the Burnt River Watershed, which includes the Irondale River and the Black River Watershed.

All of the contact details for sandbags are below:

  • Roads Department (in the Sand Dome – to the left of the entrance), located at 4564 County Road 121 (Kinmount location)
  • Furnace Falls Park – Front Turnaround – County Road 503

The Minden Hills website has details on how to properly fill up a sandbag.
