Bancroft OPP officer found not guilty of discreditable conduct

A Police Tribunal has found a Bancroft OPP officer not guilty of discreditable conduct.

The OPP’s Professional Standards Bureau has released information about the case against Constable Chris Sheppard.

It relates to a sexual assault dating back to 2014, which was replaced with an assault charge, and eventually withdrawn once the officer signed a peace bond.

The 52-year-old had been involved in a three-day Police Services Act hearing in March.

The adjudicator says he didn’t find the evidence clear and convincing in the hearing, and found Sheppard not guilty.

Bancroft OPP has confirmed he will return to work after being suspended with pay.
