Public boat launch on Bob Lake won’t be happening anytime soon

Minden Hills residents that use the Bob Lake boat launch are on their own this year. The township hasn’t come up with a solution to allow boats in and out from the launch, which is privately owned.

Last year, the owners of the launch blocked it off once boats were already in the water. That meant around 20 boats were stranded, and the township had to pay over $9,000 to get the boats out over an 11 day period in the fall.

Staff was working on a solution for this summer over the winter, but nothing has been settled on. The township has no plans to work out a deal with the launch owner to allow boats in and out, or to buy the land from the owners to create a public launch.
