Sandbags available in Minden Hills

With the flood warning in effect Minden Hills is reminding residents sandbags are available. There are two areas to pick up sandbags, which are at the S.G Nesbitt Community Centre and the Roads Department yard three. It’s self-serve, so bring a shovel with you.

  • S.G. Nesbitt Community Centre, located at 55 Parkside Street, Minden
  • Roads Department Yard #3, located at 4564 County Road 121 (Kinmount location), in the Sand Dome to the left of the entrance.

Tips to fill a sandbag are on the Minden Hills website.

The township says water levels are continuing to rise, and property owners are asked to monitor the situation. Portions of the Minden Riverwalk and Boardwalk are closed to pedestrians, and drivers are asked to avoid any roads that are underwater as the conditions underneath could be unstable and dangerous.

The township says to be prepared with the flood warning from the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry in effect. Build an emergency kit, check your sump pumps, and if you’re concerned about water in or around your home, call Hydro One at 1-888-664-9376.
