Minden Community Food Centre opening a relief centre for those affected by flooding

Anyone affected by flooding in Minden can head to the Nesbitt Arena for a hot meal. The Minden Community Food Centre is opening a relief centre, and will be handing out sandwiches, coffee, and cookies at 12:00pm and onwards. After that, there will be a free hot meal in the evenings.

Donations are also needed to help those affected. The food centre is asking for toiletries, like deodorant, hand soap, toothpaste, and brushes, as well as bedding, and towels. Chair Marilynne Lesperance says those were the items most needed during the 2013 flooding.

Any donations can be dropped off today until 4:00pm at the Minden Food Centre at 24 Newcastle. Or, contact  Lesperance or Kim Russel at 705 286-6838 or 705 286-2990.
