A number of roads remain closed in Minden Hills

Minden Hills is continuing to keep a number of local roads closed because of flooding. The Bobcaygeon Road Main Street Bridge is still shut down due to public safety concerns.

There are a couple of detours:

  • Hwy 35 to Deep Bay Road (19 km distance in total)
    Hwy 35 to Scotchline Road, left onto Bobcaygeon Road and right onto Deep Bay Road (5.5 km distance in total)

Water Street and Booth Street leading into downtown are also closed, and are open to local traffic only. The Loggers Pedestrian Bridge is also closed.

The full list of road closures and updates are below:

  • Shuylers Island Road: Closed to all traffic
  • Pritchard Lane: Closed at the intersection of Milne Street. Residents can access the Township parking lot from St. Germaine Street
  • McKnight Street: Closed at the intersection of Bobcaygeon Road. Closed to all traffic
  • Peck Street: Closed at the intersection of Bobcaygeon Road. Closed to all traffic
  • Soyers Lake Road: Has been reopened
  • Salerno Lake Road Bridge: Has been reopened
  • Reynolds Road: Closed at the intersection of County Road 20 and Duck Lake Road. Open to local traffic only
  • Prince Street: Closed at St. Germain Street from Chandos Street to Milne Street. Closed to all traffic
  • St. Germaine Street: Closed from Pritchard Street to Water Street
  • Invergordon Street: Closed at the intersection of Bobcaygeon Road. Residents are advised to use the Stouffer Street extension at the rear entrance of the S.G Nesbitt Memorial Arena as an alternate route
  • Orde Street: Closed at the intersection of Deep Bay Road. Open to local traffic only
  • Anson Street: Closed at the intersection of Peck Street. Closed to all traffic
  • Spring Valley Road: Closed at #1268. Closed to all traffic

Sandbags are still available at the following locations:

  • S.G. Nesbitt Community Centre, located at 55 Parkside Street, Minden
  • Roads Department Yard #3, located at 4564 County Road 121 (Kinmount location), in the Sand Dome to the left of the entrance
  • Furnace Falls Park entrance, located on County Road 503
  • Lady Fatima Catholic Church, 7 Bobcaygeon Road (off of Hwy 35 at the intersection of Bobcaygeon Road and IGA Road)

It’s primarily self serve, so bring a shovel with you. Tips to fill a sandbag are on the Minden Hills website.
