A Haliburton Highlands Secondary School Student is going to be helping the school board make decisions. Grade 11 student Madeline Hopkins has been chosen as the student trustee for next school year.
She was elected by G7 Student Senate members. The student senate is made up one elected student from each school in the Trillium Lakelands board. The team meet to discuss ideas, challenges, and achievements from each school.
Hopkins will compile all of that information and bring a student perspective to school board meetings and the Ontario Student Trustee Association. Board Chair Louise Clodd says Hopkins’ role will provide a unique standpoint and context to the decisions made by TLDSB.
