It’s a good time of year to see moose in Algonquin Park

May is the perfect time to head up to Algonquin Park if you want to see moose.

The park says moose will be near the Highway 60 corridor during mornings and evenings in May because they’ll be attracted to salt on the road.

But, moose can be dangerous, especially if you’re driving. You need to be alert, slow down, and keep an eye out for them on the side of the road.

If you do see one, pull over and turn your hazard lights on to warn other drivers. The park reminds you, if another drivers flashes their high beams at you, there’s a good chance they’re letting you know there’s a moose nearby.

If you get out of your car to get a closer look, you have to be careful. The park reminds you to check for traffic before stepping out. You should also keep a safe distance from the animal, because if a moose flattens its ears, you know you’re too close.
