Reaction split over potential minimum wage increase

Some people are on board with a proposed increase to the minimum wage.

According to reports, a proposal on work place changes in Ontario dropping next week might suggest a minimum wage increase to $15.

Employees seem to be excited about the potential change, but business owners expressed concern of how it would affect their bottom line

One business owner indicated that if the increase becomes a reality, then she will have to give serious consideration to scaling back the hours of part-time staff.

Haliburton Highlands Chamber of Commerce President Jerry Walker says these sweeping changes could seriously impact job creation and the health of the local economy in the Haliburton Highlands.

The Haliburton Highlands Chamber of Commerce President along with the Ontario Chamber of Commerce sent a letter to Premier Kathleen Wynne expressing concern on the impact the potential hike to 15 dollars an hour could have on local businesses.
