Haliburton County council taking wait and see approach on proposed legislation regarding the land appeals process

New legislation being proposed by the province could put land and planning appeals in the hands of local politicians.

The Ontario Municipal Board currently handles appeals for local land and planning issues.

Haliburton County Warden Brent Devolin says council needs more information, but eliminating the O.M.B. is a good start.

The proposal would see the O-M-B replaced by a Local Planning Appeal Tribunal (LPAT).

Devolin  talks about an issue he has with the O.M.B’s process.

Devolin adds he would want to review the proposed legislation in its entirety before he gives it his full support.
