Algonquin Highlands Reeve expects some opposition to mobile service expansion

The Reeve of Algonquin Highlands realizes there will be some opposition to plugging mobile service gaps in our region.

Carol Moffatt understands some residents will be opposed to the network expansion but says it is for the greater good.

A proposal for a partnership between the public and private sector is in front of the federal and provincial governments for review.

Moffatt adds with the growth in population, the expansion of mobile service is necessary.

The Eastern Ontario Regional Network submitted their proposal to Ottawa and Queen’s Park.

If they get the green light by the end of the year, construction could start in 2019.

It would take four to five years to complete the project.
