School in Haliburton Village to be renamed after a long time community volunteer

A Haliburton school will be renamed after a long time community volunteer.

The Haliburton Adult Education and Training Centre will be called the Leonard Salvatori Alternate Education Centre.

Haliburton County trustee Gary Brohman put in the request and the Trillium Lakelands District School Board approved it at a recent meeting.

Salvatori spent 35 years as a trustee for our county, a scouts leader for 42 years and a minor hockey representative for 40 years.

There is no word on when the naming ceremony will be, but the board hopes the 87 year old Salvatori will be there.

The school is just off county road 21 near the Haliburton Highlands Secondary School.
