Algonquin Highlands council will be asking the federal government for $25,000.
Council will be applying for the grant under Canada’s New Horizons for Seniors Program.
The money would be used to replace the exercise equipment at the Dorset Recreation Centre used mainly by seniors.
The township would add an extra $5,000 bringing the total investment to $30,000.
The deadline to apply for money under the program is June 23, so there is no word on when, or if, they will receive the funds.
