Update: The severe thunderstorm watch has ended for the area.

Environment Canada has a severe thunderstorm watch in effect for Haliburton and Minden. The weather service says strong storms could roll into the area bringing hail later on this morning, and continuing into this afternoon.

Environment Canada says the hail could be around one to two centimetres in size and there could be a lot of it, potentially damaging crops and plants. It also says gusts of winds up to 90 km/hr are possible.

The Office of the Fire Marshal and Emergency Management recommends that you take cover immediately if threatening weather approaches.
