Highlands East encouraging residents to donate unwanted items instead of dumping them at landfills

Highlands East says they want to support charities and reduce landfill waste.

A presentation was made in council chambers suggesting residents think about what they are tossing away before going to the landfill.

Deputy Reeve Suzanne Partridge says items like old furniture can be donated to a local thrift store.

Partridge adds the Highland East landfills are in great shape, but the municipality wants to be in excellent shape.

There are two thrift store locations in Haliburton to drop off unwanted items.

One is Ted’s Thrift Warehouse on Mallard Road and Lily Ann Thrift Store on York Street.
